He described Dr. Bawumia as the rescuer who can resuscitate “the ailing economy” under President John Mahama over the last four years. Kufuor patted Akufo-Addo – the NPP flagbearer – on the back for picking an economic genius like Bawumia as his running mate. "The mark of a great leader is one who is able to pick people like Dr Bawumia," Kufuor observed.
