The sudden deaths of two girls - aged 9 and 10 - in the last few weeks continue to rock the wider New Zealand community. The deaths indicated there may be "a missing step'' in the schooling system that could have prevented them, the NZ Association of Counsellors said. "We need well-resourced student support services like school counsellors, but we're missing a step,'' she said. "They often need a bridge - they need someone like a school counsellor who can follow up with the right questions.''
