SportLasses in the Southern province proved their prowess with bat and ball at the Inter District Ladies Cricket Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket at Vijitha Central College grounds last weekend. The tournament was organised to identify talented lasses as well as select the Southern Province Ladies Cricket team for the forthcoming Inter Provincial Ladies Cricket Tournament which is to get underway this month. Kavindi Parami and Iresha Chathurani of Galle district slammed centuries against Hambanthota and Matara districts while Lihini Apsara (Matara), Tharushi Sandunika (Hambanthota), S.N Dulanjalai (Galle) and Sachini Nisansala (Galle) captured six wicket hauls or more to prove their ability as bowlers. Tharushi Sandunika was rewarded with a hat-trick while Sachini Nisansala captured seventeen wickets in a match including all ten wickets in an innings. She was the highest wicket taker of the tournament with 22 victims.
