“The unjust, extortionist and shameful regime has been defeated by our collective struggle,” said Dr. Berhanu who called for everyone to work together to ensure that the current political situation is not overturned. “We were forced to leave our beloved country because we resisted dictators, undemocratic and destructive forces with zero sum politics,” Berhanu said. The chairperson also called on the government to introduce a presidential system so the country’s head of state is elected by voters all over the country. He also emphasized the need for ensuring favorable playing field for all political parties and establishing independent political institutions in the coming years.
