Giggs leaves United after 29 years, wants to become manager


MANCHESTER, England (AP) " Ryan Giggs has ended his 29-year association with Manchester United, leaving the coaching staff at the fallen English Premier League power at the start of Jose Mourinho's reign. The 42-year-old Giggs joined United in 1987 as a 14-year-old player and went on to appear a record 963 times for the first team, mostly under Alex Ferguson. Giggs says "the time feels right and, although I have no immediate plans to step into management, it is where I want to be." I'm excited about the future " I've had the best apprenticeship into management anyone could ever ask for." Giggs says "it's time for a new chapter and a new challenge.
