Hardcore Blue Jays fans should be thrilled that the easygoing Texan is on the verge of a multi-year extension that will take him at least through 2019. There are many among those exasperated fans who believe Gibbons is overmatched when it comes to in-game managing. By extending Gibbons, the Jays are showing that they are not changing direction any time soon.
