All of which makes the journey taken by Franky (Josh Wiggins, also excellent in 2016’s Mean Dreams) both realistic and painful. The teenaged lead in Giant Little Ones is affable, a member of the swim team and best buds with athlete Ballas (Darren Mann). He’s also seeing Priscilla (Hailey Kittle), though he’s put off by her constant hair-twirling and lack of conversational skills. And while there is an evolution to the story (including some unexpectedly good advice from a parent), Giant Little Ones doesn’t end with a tidy resolution. Or as one character puts it: “I suggest you just pay attention to who you’re drawn to, and not what to call it at this point.”Giant Little Ones is an excellent drama, first and foremost.
