Ghosts do not have rights under any Constitution or legal system in the world. Our governments, through time and especially now, engage in doublespeak when it comes to the Indian girl. By remaining apathetic to the gendered terrorism that Indian women live with, elected representatives protect the entitlements of Indian men over Indian women. This is perhaps because at some level the people we elect also believe that women should remain ghosts or non-citizens. In such a situation, an Indian girl cannot hope for justice until this entitlement of Indian men over a girl's body is destroyed.
