The Vikhroli court on Monday sent Shiv Sena leader Sunil Shitap and contractor Anil Mandal, arrested in connection with the Ghatkopar building collapse, to judicial custody for 12 days. Shitap was arrested on July 25, the day the building collapsed, while Mandal was arrested on July 29. The public prosecutor sought police custody on grounds that the architect Ranjeet Agale is yet to be arrested and further investigations need to be done. According to police, Shitap had created a Whatsapp group named Sitap hospital for Mandal, Agale and others involved in the construction work. We are now accessing the documents from the agencies concerned to understand the structure of the building,” said a police officer.
