Ghatkopar building collapse: Families get temporary homes in Bhandup

Six weeks after their building -- Siddhi Sai -- in Ghatkopar collapsed, 11 families have been given temporary accommodation at a slum rehabilitation project in Bhandup. The state government on Thursday passed an order for temporary allotment of 269-sq ft flats to the families. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had promised temporary homes to the families till their building is redeveloped. The families were shown temporary accommodation at SRA schemes in Kurla and Ghatkopar, but they chose Bhandup project. The order says the temporary flats have been given out for two years and the tenants will have to pay the rent.
