General News of Thursday, 10 May 2018Source: classfmonline.comGhana Health Service issues Ebola alertThe warning comes on the back of a recent outbreak of the virus in DR CongoThe Ghana Health Service (GHS) has advised the public to intensify preventive measures against the deadly Ebola virus after it resurfaced in DR Congo with five confirmed deaths. The Director-General of the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare indicated that GHS has received an alert from the World Health Organisation (WHO) on the virus. Ebola virus disease (EVD), also known as Ebola hemorrhagic fever (EHF) or simply Ebola, is a viral hemorrhagic fever of humans and other primates caused by Ebola viruses. Blood samples are tested for viral RNA, viral antibodies or for the virus itself to confirm the diagnosis. This includes either oral rehydration therapy (drinking slightly sweetened and salty water) or giving intravenous fluids as well as treating symptoms.
