Thus, although Ghana performs fairly on budget transparency, much effort is needed to further strengthen public participation in the budget process,” the statement said. It said an analysis of the health sector budget reveals that although Ghana recorded an overall increase in budget transparency with 54 scores, the health sector budget scored a mark of 50. It said these findings present the government with the opportunity to put in place mechanisms to ensure that Ghana’s health sector budget governance is strengthened. It said SEND GHANA believed that although COVID-19 pandemic presented significant challenges, it brings opportunity for greater transparency and accountability in the health sector budget.
