Pursuing inclusive business not only helps to raise the living standards of the poor, it is also good for business — by helping people better their lives, businesses are helping to grow their own resource bases and markets. The occasion for the conference on Wednesday was the launch of the Inclusive Business Capacity-Building Fund, a seed fund established by the PBSP to kick-start IB projects. Apart from Cargill’s interest in the CSR and strategic benefits of successful inclusive business programs, MacLennan divulged that he has a poignant personal interest in helping the Filipino people. The private sector has far greater resources than the government in terms of both financial capacity and technical knowledge.
