I came to Simon’s Rock Early College (now called Bard College at Simon’s Rock) under the worst of circumstances. By the end of my first year at Simon’s Rock, things had changed for me. While I was excited to be a member of the first Bachelor of Arts class ever at Simon’s Rock—the first class to receive a four-year college degree early—I never graduated from Simon’s Rock. Many of the graduates in the audience last Saturday, I hope, share my feelings about Simon’s Rock. In conclusion, I had little choice but to follow an unconventional path in my education and career.
