— Finance Minister Bill Morneau says Canadians should get used to so-called “job churn” — short-term employment and a number of career changes in a person’s life. Morneau made the proclamation today — days before his economic update — at the Ontario Liberal party’s general meeting. RelatedHe suggested that there should be a focus on training and retraining young people for a shifting career landscape. He also told delegates that the Liberal’s Canada Childcare Benefit was the biggest advancement in Canadian policy since universal health care. He says the policy — which was among Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s campaign promises — was lifting thousands of Canadians out of poverty.
