The World Health Organization is calling on governments, health-care agencies and other institutions, as well as individuals, to prepare. "We need to shift our thinking into: this is going to become a problem within Canada within a matter of weeks to months." While hospitals get ready, Federal Health Minister Patty Hajdu is encouraging Canadians to prepare as they would for a storm. Fast-forward to today, and he is now living the dream he started envisioning that first day on the track, travelling the world as a luge athlete on Canada's national team. On Thursday, World Health Organization officials stressed the need for governments to have national preparedness plans and training in place for health-care workers.
