The 53-year-old man, whose name was not released by the court, will face life in jail. Because of the serious nature of the crime, he will not be eligible for parole after 15 years. The man, who comes from the southern German town of Friedberg, confessed to the crime at the start of the trial. He told the court he had planned the crime long in advance. He then used his wife's money to fly to Thailand.
