The German men's soccer league is working with the government on a plan to get fans back into stadiums during the coronavirus pandemic, its CEO says. Christian Seifert, CEO of the German Football League which runs the top two divisions, told German weekly Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung that ideas were being discussed with the government. Germany was the first major European soccer league to resume in empty stadiums amid the pandemic on May 16. German media have reported that top-division clubs have been studying the idea of holding games with a reduced number of fans, typically with socially distanced seating. Local officials have wide-ranging powers in Germany during the pandemic, but it's not clear whether the league would allow some teams to resume with fans if others were still in empty stadiums.
