GEORGE TOWN: On a bright, sunny Saturday (July 6) morning, folks in the heritage enclave here were already celebrating George Town World Heritage Day in their own way ahead of the state festivities in the evening. From artists to church volunteers, from treasure hunters to tourists on bicycles, the Unesco World Heritage Site was a hive of activity since early morning. The reason for this is that George Town will be celebrating its 11th year as a World Heritage Site on Sunday (July 7). "We have a 30-minute video presentation every two hours for visitors to learn about how the church grew with George Town," he said. "Some of us will be painting Penang's historical sites, such as Little India, Masjid Kapitan Keling, temples and churches in George Town during our stay here," the 49-year-old artist said.
