Shortly after Floyd’s death in May, his family began working with Crump, a civil rights attorney who also represented the family of Micheal Brown, whose shooting death by a police officer in Ferguson, Missouri, helped kick off the Black Lives Matter movement. “The criminal prosecution of police in cases of them killing and brutalizing minorities in America is abysmal,” Crump told the Star Tribune.
