George Clooney And Partners Sell 4-Year-Old Tequila Brand For $1 Billion

It's a good thing Amal Clooney put her foot down when George Clooney suggested naming the couple's twins "Casa" and "Amigo," because Clooney's ultra-premium tequila line, Casamigos, is no longer the family business. Clooney and his business partners Rande Gerber and Michael Meldman are selling the brand to British beverage giant Diageo for close to $1 billion. Although boutique liquor brands are nothing new for celebrities, going from $0 to a $1 billion sale in four years time is remarkable. Kenny Chesney launched his Blue Chair Bay rum brand in 2013 (the same year as Clooney's Casamigos). Florida Georgia Line launched Old Camp Whiskey last year, Kenny G recently launched Hana Gin, and the Hanson brothers sell their own MMMhops beer at nearly every tour stop.
