George Brown College decided in January to strip part-time and casual faculty of two paid sick days. ( Andrew Francis Wallace / Toronto Star File Photo ) Humber College has taken a different path to George Brown, saying it recognized the need to maintain paid sick days for staff. “Unions need to take on precarious work,” said RM Kennedy, OPSEU’s college faculty division chair. In an internal memo obtained by the Star, Humber College said it “recognized the need” for paid sick days and decided to maintain them for all staff following Bill 47. In addition to reinstating paid sick days, the application seeks compensation for any employees who may have been impacted by “improper changes” to their workplace terms.
