Gentleman JackBBC One★★★★☆As you’ll know because it has caused quite the stir, an “intimacy co-ordinator” was hired to choreograph the sex scenes for Gentleman Jack. However, in the opening episode about the life of Anne Lister, Britain’s “first modern lesbian”, the co-ordinator was not overtaxed. Anyone hoping for a good old leer at some explicit girl-on-girl action was to be left deflated, their spectacles unsteamed. Afterwards Lister, played with magnificent swagger by Suranne Jones, turned over and jotted the event in her diary. Suranne Jones as the forthright Anne Lister in Gentleman Jack BBCThis was a powerhouse performance by Jones.
