The top six players in the Official World Golf Ranking, and nine of the top 10 in the world, will take part next week at The Genesis Invitational near Los Angeles, tournament organizers confirmed. The top six players are Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, Jon Rahm of Spain, Justin Thomas, Dustin Johnson and Tiger Woods. 8 Patrick Cantlay, who is followed in the rankings by Xander Schauffele and England’s Justin Rose. Also entered are J.B. Holmes, the defending champion; Bubba Watson, a three-time event winner; and Phil Mickelson, who won the tournament in 2008 and 2009. This is the first year the tournament will be played as an invitational, shrinking the number of participants from 144 to 120.
