A thief has shot an arrow straight through the heart of an archery club, stealing thousands of dollars worth of gear. The club’s president, Ashlin Redpath said the theft was a huge blow to beginners wanting to take up the sport. Martin De Ruyter/Stuff Young beginners of the sport have been disadvantaged by the theft of the gear they learn on before purchasing their own. The club wasn’t insured, he said, as it wasn't feasible, costing more than the club could afford. The club had been running since the 1940s with member numbers ebbing and flowing, but Redpath said the club currently had 100 members.
