The United Nations court for handling disputes between states was ruling in a case brought by South Africa and issued an interim ruling that Israel must take all measures to prevent genocidal acts in Gaza. The ruling required Israel to prevent and punish any public incitements to commit genocide against Palestinians in Gaza and to preserve evidence related to any allegations of genocide there. South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa said he expected Israel to abide by its ruling that it take measures to prevent genocide against the people of Gaza. The European Union (EU) said in a statement, “Orders of the International Court of Justice are binding. Senior Hamas official, Sami Abu Zuhri said “The International Court of Justice ruling is an important development that contributes to isolating the occupation (Israel) and exposing its crimes in Gaza.
