The innings saw him put on 201 runs in a partnership with former Otago and New Zealand player Brendon McCullum, steering the team to 206 for one. The 38-year-old Jamaican's knock also took him past 11,000 runs in the shortest format of the game and made him the first player to score 20 centuries in T20 cricket. Gayle, who has now struck 819 sixes in T20 cricket, last played a T20 international for West Indies in September and his last test match was against Bangladesh in 2014.
