Microsoft co-founder and philanthropist Bill Gates has pledged to invest another US$5 billion (NZ $7 billion) in Africa over the next five years, through the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Gates is also in South Africa to attend a global AIDS conference being held this week. South Africa now says half of its infected population of 6.8 million people are being treated. He said the foundation has already invested more than US$9 billion in Africa.
