Md Anisur Rahman, senior secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, inaugurated the process as chief guest on Saturday afternoon. Previously, this gas field used to supply an average of 5 to 6 million cubic feet of gas per day. “With the discovery of this new well, it is possible to extract an average of 22 to 24 million cubic feet of gas per day from here and supply it to the national grid,” said Anisur Rahman. Earlier, Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration and Production Company Ltd (Bapex) ran tests for 55 days and on November 20, it confirmed reserves of 30-40 thousand billion cubic feet of gas at the new gas level.
