Firefighters were called to lower Stuart St due to fears of a gas leak this morning. A New Zealand Fire Service spokesman said crews confirmed they could smell gas, and the area was cordoned off by police. Senior station officer Rob Torrance, of Dunedin City Station, said a Cafe Rue staff member left a gas hob on in the restaurant on the corner of lower Stuart St and Moray Pl overnight.
