A bus was burned down to its frame due to a gas cylinder explosion near Shahbag area of Dhaka around 12pm on Wednesday. The bus, which operated under the Midway banner and runs on the Mohammadpur–Arambagh route in Dhaka, was destroyed by the fire caused by the blast. According to eyewitnesses, the bus was stuck in traffic near Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) when smoke started coming out from the gas cylinder. Passengers of the bus and other nearby vehicles left the place as soon as the smoke became visible. Deputy Assistant Director of Fire Service South (Palashi Barrack) Abdul Halim said: “We are assuming the explosion has taken place due to a leakage of the gas cylinder.
