United confirmed Cavani had decided to extend his stay at Old Trafford after months of uncertainty over his future. Neville, the former United right-back, admitted he was sceptical over Cavani arriving on a free transfer on deadline day but was happy to be proven wrong. ‘It’s massive news,’ Neville told Sky Sports when asked about him agreeing to stay on at Manchester United. ‘You think about the positive influences on the likes of Rashford and Greenwood… Manchester United can press better at the front when he’s there, they’ve got a better target man to hit.
