Gareth Southgate admits England's record against the world elite is "non-existent"

England face Spain in the Nations League at Wembley but Southgate says they must prove themselves on the top stage. Southgate said: “Our record against top teams in competitive games is non-existent, it is not impressive, bar Argentina in 2002 (World Cup finals in Sapporo). "It is very rare since 1970 we have beaten those top teams. Southgate added: “The basis of the team team will be the team because we had good performances and we want to continue that. “We’ve got a full house, appreciation and it’s good that the players will feel that but the World Cup is in the past because we want to keep improving.”
