Gardaí are to begin piloting uniform baseball caps as part of a potential new look for frontline personnel. A ‘soft’ style baseball cap will be trailed for two weeks, followed by a further two-week trial of a ‘bump stop’ cap. A garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána will begin a pilot of Garda uniform baseball caps in three Garda Stations from tomorrow, Wednesday 6th December 2023. “The pilot will include two sample caps: a soft baseball cap for two weeks followed by a further two-week pilot of a ‘bump stop’ cap. It marked only the third time in its 100 year history that a formal upgrade of Garda uniform took place.
