Make sure your volume isn’t too high while gaming (Credits: Getty Images)A study has found that video games could lead to hearing loss and tinnitus, as volumes exceed the safe level of a food blender. Researchers have attempted to summarise 14 worldwide studies involving more than 50,000 people, to see how dangerous the noise levels of video games are to our hearing. The study warned that gamers who listen to loud sounds for a lengthy period of time could end up with hearing loss and tinnitus. The study suggests that 83 decibels (dB) is a ‘permissible’ sound level over 40 hours of exposure a week. Anything above that could be harmful over time, and the louder the noise level is the shorter amount of time we can be exposed to it.
