Martin says that writing on 'The Winds Of Winter' is going very well lately and I want to believe. And I guess I'm a bit of both Mulder and Scully when it comes to the Game of Thrones author and his next book, The Winds Of Winter. We're lacking any hard evidence that Winds of Winter is anywhere near completion. I remember writing reviews for Game of Thrones back in Season 7 (2017) and mentioning how maybe the novel would release in 2018. Season 8 of Game of Thrones returns this Sunday on HBO.
