Gardaí in Galway have made one arrest and frozen around €370,000 in assets during an attack targeting organised criminal activity. The arrest was made as part of an operation targeting organised criminal activity in the east of Galway city on Monday, February 2. A male in his 20s was arrested and is currently being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2006 at a garda station. Two cryptocurrency accounts containing $410,000 (approximately €347,796) were frozen as part of the operation, along with an account at a local financial institution holding over €20,000. The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow, a garda spokesperson said.
