Galliford Try, the construction group, is “confident” about its prospects as a standalone company after rejecting a £950 million all-share bid from Bovis Homes for its housebuilding and regeneration businesses. Galliford Try and Bovis, one of the UK’s biggest housebuilders, have both released statements to the stock market this morning confirming reports over the weekend that the companies held talks over a deal. Bovis said it made the bid for Linden Homes, Galliford Try’s housebuilding business, and the regeneration operations on May 8 but the proposal was rejected on Friday. The FTSE 100 closed up on Friday by 46.69 points, or 0.65 per cent, at 7,277.73.
