BY Dinitha RathnayakeThe Galle Face entrance area has been closed for leisure activities these days due to the project to renovate Galle Face Green, which is funded by the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA). Galle Face was closed for the public over the past weekend and no one was allowed to enter the green area or the beachside. According to sources, the objective of this project is to embellish the Galle Face premises to suit the atmosphere of the adjacent Port City. The refurbishment work proposed under the Galle Face Green project, which is to be set in motion for the transformation of the Galle Face promenade, was subjected to inspection by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa in February. The Navy’s manpower and technological expertise is to be utilised for the refurbishment, with a view to give a facelift to Galle Face Green and the surrounding area.
