Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has cautioned Mt Kenya leaders to be careful when implementing instructions from leaders from other regions. The vocal leader said he sleeps with one eye open to ensure the Mt Kenya region is not disadvantaged. Gachagua told the elected leaders from the Mt Kenya region to love those who elected them and to always remember them. Gachagua was impeached on 11 grounds of gross violation of the constitution, bullying Kemsa officials, and ethnic discrimination. It means Gachagua has become the first Kenyan deputy president to be impeached by the National Assembly.
