President Ali Bongo has appointed Gabon’s envoy to Togo as his new ambassador to Morocco that hosted him for medical treatment for several months after he suffered a stroke in October while attending an investment conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. President Bongo returned home Sunday after he spent a convalescence period in Morocco. In January, President Bongo had interrupted his medical treatment in rabat and spent less than 24 hours in Libreville to attend the inauguration of a new cabinet. Bongo, 59, came to power in the elections held following the death of his father, Omar Bongo, in 2009. Omar Bongo had ruled the country for 41 years.
