Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Mitra has revealed his plans of reviving the play-for-pay boxing industry in the country by loosening some of its stringent regulations for professional boxers and promoters. Mitra, a former Palawan governor, said he would review the regulation of the commission with the aim of helping athletes increase their earnings without risking their health. If approved, GAB will allow licensed boxers to fight again 30 days after their previous match depending on the result. He added that he has been in contact with boxing consultants and promoters to make these new rules beneficial to all concern. Mitra also added that they would change the renewal schedule of license for boxers, referees, promoters and judges from annually to every three years.
