Parts of the GTA may experience heavy rain due to scattered storms on Friday overnight, Environment Canada meteorologist Monica Vaswani said. The statements said these areas could see up to 50 millimetres of rainfall due to scattered thunderstorms overnight. Vaswani said the rainfall should end around midnight in the GTA and could continue into the morning in southeastern Ontario. She said she predicted about 20 millimetres of rain per hour across southern Ontario, but areas that near 50 millimetres in a few hours may warrant heavy rainfall warnings. She added heavy rainfall is typical in May.
