Bringing about a major change in the rates of goods and services taxes, the GST council today lowered the tax levels on 66 articles. Briefing the mediapersons after GST council meet, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, "A total of 133 representations had been received and were considered at length. Some items were historically charged at higher rate but today their tax rates need to be lowered." "The GST council has revised tax levels on 66 out of 133 representations," Arun Jaitley said adding that the ext meeting of the council would be held next Sunday.
