The GST Council will meet on Friday at 7 pm at Vigyan Bhawan in central Delhi, ahead of the midnight launch of India's most ambitious tax reform since its independence in 1947. Vigyan Bhawan is just minutes away from the Parliament, where the GST launch will take place in an hour-long program where Prime Minister Narendra Modi , President Pranab Mukherjee, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be present among others. Former prime minister Manmohan Singh who was invited to be a part of the function is likely to be absent as the Congress party has decided to boycott the program. So, what is likely to happen at the GST Council meet ahead of the launch, is the big question. "Any tweaking is tax rates in the meeting is highly unlikely," one of the sources said. Two short films that will be screened at the launch as well. The GST launch will happen exactly at midnight when the switchover to the new regime takes place, Jaitley announced earlier this month.
