A confident government will table the Constitution (122nd Amendment) Bill, 2014 in Rajya Sabha today, setting the stage for the Goods and Services Tax (GST), India's most ambitious tax reform ever. The GST Bill, as it is known, has been in the making for over a decade. It was then referred to a Select Committee of the Rajya Sabha which submitted its report on July 22. A time of five hours has been allocated for the debate and the government expects to conclude the debate and pass the bill today itself.
