Gaelic Players Association (GPA) founder Donal O’Neill has announced he has a GAA-themed feature length film in pre-production. Known in recent times as a successful documentary maker, Down native O’Neill has written a screenplay entitled “Jones’ Road”. O’Neill is also son of All-Ireland SFC winner Kevin and nephew of Seán O’Neill, who is considered one of the finest Gaelic footballers to have played the game. As a result of his work, the first mileage rate for inter-county players was introduced as well as a series of endorsement deals. O’Neill’s cousin, two-time All-Ireland SFC winning forward and former Down manager James McCartan, is also on board as a consultant.
