A GOP representative on Friday blocked what would have been a unanimous vote on disaster relief funding legislation because it does not contain funding for border security. Rep. Donna Shalala (D-Fla.) had asked that the $19.1 billion bill be passed quickly through unanimous consent before the Memorial Day weekend. The earliest the full House would hold a vote on the bill is during the week of June 3. President Donald Trump is expected to sign it into law, despite the White House’s unsuccessful push for border security funding. A reporter specifically asked Scalise about whether he would support the House passing a bill without border security funds through unanimous consent.
