The Government of National Unity (GNU) has decided to exempt Sudanese students from the requirement of obtaining residency permits to study in Libyan schools for the 2025–2026 academic year. The decision was announced by the Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli, which informed its nationals across Libya and expressed its gratitude and appreciation to the Libyan government for its supportive and humanitarian stance toward Sudanese citizens forced to flee the war and seek refuge in Libya. This exemption comes against the backdrop of a previous directive issued by the Ministry of Education, which had instructed education authorities and institutions not to accept the registration of foreign students unless they held valid residency in Libya.
