GM Alejandro Ramirez accused of sexual misconduct, assault by multiple women: WSJAfter American chess player Jennifer Schaade alleges she was sexually assaulted by Grandmaster Alejandro Ramirez, 10 other women in the chess community have contacted her alleging he assaulted and/or made unwanted sexual advances, according to Wall Street. Three more women have accused GM Alejandro Ramirez of sexual harassment at chess events here and abroad, including two underage chess students. Shahade himself has twice accused Ramirez of assault, the latest in 2014, for which he personally confronted Ramirez in 2020, who apologized and expressed regret for his behavior. Later that year, Schaade contacted the American chess authorities to complain, and his brother Greg contacted the St. Louis Chess Club for the same the following year. Several women who accused Ramirez corroborated the story Shahade shared on social media, claiming that his behavior had become an ‘open secret’ in the chess community.
